What are the most common mistakes women make with their skincare? What awareness should they develop?
The mistakes I observe most often are women who use products unsuitable for their skin's needs, and who change their routine too frequently because they follow influencers promoting trendy brands or anti aging actives that are not adapted to their needs, like retinoids or repeated chemical peels. The consequence is skin that becomes reactive, fragile, with an altered skin barrier. Their skin no longer regenerates properly.
My recommendation is to respect your skin by choosing truly adapted treatments, following the advice of a professional, and applying the same routine consciously morning and evening for at least three months before changing anything. It is consistency that gives positive results.
Changing products every month prevents the skin from adapting. The skin needs time, four to eight weeks, to respond to an active ingredient and show visible results. Moreover, too many changes disrupt the cutaneous microbiome, creating inflammation and imperfections. The consequence is that no lasting result can take hold. The skin spends its time adjusting instead of repairing itself.
And my final recommendation is obviously to apply a UVA sunscreen all year round.
You are also a mother and a busy woman. Tell us about your own personal routine, how do you balance it all?
I apply a routine adapted to my skin's needs morning and evening, even if I go to bed very late.
I am devoted to Biologique Recherche products for their concentration of actives and the visible results on the skin. I readapt my routine with each change of season.
I drink a lot of water and organic herbal teas. I try to eat balanced, although I am very greedy. It is my enormous weakness.
For technical treatments, I do microcurrents three times a week followed by an LED mask.
