When did you first realize your ability to heal—like the Medicine Women of ancient traditions? ?
Honestly, I wouldn’t say there was a single "aha" moment, but rather a gradual realization that came through my own struggles with skin. I’ve dealt with hyperpigmentation, acne, and the emotional toll that comes with not feeling comfortable in your skin. It led me down a rabbit hole of research, trying to understand how the skin functions, what affects it on a deeper level, and how I could support its healing. Over time, as I began formulating products, I saw firsthand how skincare wasn’t just about the skin. It was about confidence, emotional well-being, and even cultural identity. That’s when I truly embraced the idea that skincare could be a form of healing, not just a beauty routine.
Your formulations go beyond surface-level treatment. How does your philosophy—across mind, spirit, and science—shape the way you develop products?
For me, skincare is deeply personal. It’s not just about slapping on a product and expecting miracles. Our skin is dynamic - it reflects everything from our health and stress levels to our heritage. Considering not just what goes into the formula but how it fits into a person’s life and well-being plays a large role in my philosophy.
At Sachi Skin, we emphasize cultural appreciation over appropriation, well-ageing over anti-ageing, and understanding ‘states of skin’ rather than fixed skin types. Skin isn’t static - it’s ever evolving with time, age, environment, and emotions. Sachi Skin’s formulations were designed to support its evolving needs, actively shift the beauty narrative away from outdated terms like ‘whitening’ or ‘anti-ageing,’ which carry negative connotations, and instead focus on inclusivity and realism.
Science is, of course, at the core. I spend a lot of time researching clinical studies, dermatological findings, and ingredient efficacy to ensure every formula is backed by real results. But I also deeply respect the wisdom of traditional practices - Ayurveda - which has been around for centuries for a reason. And then there’s the emotional side - how skincare makes you feel. The ritual of applying a product, taking that moment for yourself, using ingredients that resonate with your skin and your story - it’s all part of the bigger journey. I never want to create just another product; I want to create products that make people feel empowered, understood, and seen.
